Wizard of Paws Dog Grooming Terms & Conditions | Service Agreement
Terms and Conditions & Liability Waiver
This document outlines the service agreement between Wizard of Paws Dog Grooming (‘the groomer’) and the dog’s representative (‘the client’). By signing, you agree to these terms for all current and future dogs you present for grooming services.
Appointments, Deposits, and Payments
Deposits & Cancellations
-
A non-refundable deposit of £20 is required at the time of booking. This deposit secures your appointment time and is applied to the final cost of the groom.
-
Cancellations or rescheduling require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice prior to the appointment start time.
-
If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you fail to attend (no-show), the deposit will be retained to cover the cost of lost earnings and administrative time. A new £20 deposit will be required to book your next appointment.
Punctuality & Late Collection
-
Please arrive at the advised collection time. If unforeseen circumstances cause a significant delay in collection, the groomer will attempt to contact you.
-
The groomer reserves the right to charge a Late Collection Fee if your dog is collected more than 15 minutes after the advised collection time.
-
The late fee will be charged at £5 for every 15-minute period (or part thereof) to cover the additional costs of care and schedule disruption.
Payment
- Full payment, including any additional service charges (e.g., de-matting, flea treatment), must be made at or before the time of collection.
Health, Behaviour, and Welfare
Medical Conditions & Emergencies
-
The client must inform the groomer at the time of booking of any medical conditions, heart problems, mobility issues, allergies, or injuries that may affect the grooming process.
-
If the dog becomes overly stressed or unwell, the groomer may end the treatment prematurely. The client accepts that the full treatment fee is still payable.
-
In case of emergency, if the client or their representative cannot be reached, the groomer has the right to seek advice and treatment from a veterinary surgeon and to act in the dog’s best interest at the client’s expense.
-
The client is responsible for veterinary bills for any illness or injury sustained by the dog not resulting from negligence or fault on the part of the groomer.
Dog Behaviour
-
The groomer must be told at the time of booking of any known aggression, biting history, or extreme fear related to grooming.
-
For the protection of the dog and the groomer, we may use muzzles or other handling techniques deemed suitable.
-
The groomer reserves the right to stop the treatment and request immediate collection of the dog should it become overly aggressive or unmanageable. The treatment will be payable in full.
-
The client will be liable for consequences (including injury and property damage) caused by the dog’s behaviour, unless directly caused by the groomer’s negligence.
Vaccinations
- The client confirms their dog is up to date with necessary vaccinations or accepts full responsibility for the dog’s health and any associated costs should the dog contract a preventable disease.
Coat Condition and Associated Risks
Matts, Knots, and Shave-Offs
-
It is assumed the dog’s coat is maintained between grooms. If the dog’s coat is found to be matted or knotted upon arrival, additional charges will apply due to the extra time required.
-
In the best interest of the dog, if de-matting takes longer than 15 minutes or if matting is severe, the groomer will proceed with a full clip or shave-off to remove the matting safely.
-
The client acknowledges that clipping a matted coat increases the inherent risk of skin irritation, redness, nicks, or haematomas due to the tight nature of the matting. The client holds the groomer harmless for these conditions provided that the de-matting or shave-off procedure was conducted with due care and skill.
Fleas and Ticks
-
If fleas are found during the groom, a specialised flea shampoo will be used, and an additional fee will be charged. This is necessary to prevent contamination of the salon and protect other customers.
-
Tick removal will be attempted at no additional cost, but we advise seeking veterinary advice if multiple ticks are found.
Double Coats
- The groomer advises against shaving double-coated breeds due to the risk of slow, patchy, or incorrect regrowth of the coat (post-clipping alopecia). If the client insists on shaving a double coat, they acknowledge and accept this risk.
Liability and General Terms
Limit of Liability
-
The groomer is covered by Public Liability Insurance and will take all reasonable care during the grooming process.
-
The groomer shall not be held liable for injury, loss, or death not caused by negligence or fault of the groomer or their employees.
-
The client accepts that the groomer shall not be responsible or liable for any damaged, lost, or stolen personal property (including collars or leads) belonging to the client or the dog.
Photo Consent
- Note: Consent for the taking and use of photographs on social media and marketing materials is provided separately on the accompanying GDPR & Data Consent Form.
Validity
- This signed consent form is valid for any and all future treatments provided by the groomer for all dogs the client represents. The client will be notified in writing of any future amendments to these terms.
