FAQ: Dog Grooming Policies, Anxiety, Flea Treatment & Payment Info
Frequently Asked Questions: We’ve Got Your Answers!
Choosing the right groomer is a big deal. We want you to feel totally confident about how we care for your best friend.
Here are fast, clear answers to common questions!
Salon & Comfort Policies (Stress-Free Zone!)
Do you use crates?
We truly prefer not to use crates. We keep a couple handy, but they are only used as a safe spot if we need a quick break or if we need to briefly separate dogs for everyone’s calm and safety.
Are drying cupboards used?
Absolutely not.
You won’t find any drying cupboards in our salon. We strongly dislike them, and we know your dog does too.
Can I watch the groom?
We politely request that owners drop off and leave.
When you are present, dogs often look to you for help, which makes grooming difficult. You’d be surprised how quickly they settle once you leave.
Note: For particularly reactive dogs, we may ask you to stay table-side to assist with calming.
What if I can’t collect them right away?
Please aim to collect promptly at the suggested time. Since we limit crate use, late collection means our next appointment is waiting.
Regular delays may result in a late collection fee.
Handling Special Needs & Coat Issues
What if my dog is nervous or anxious?
We tailor the appointment length.
If we know your dog is nervous, we book a longer session. This lets us work at their pace with plenty of breaks to build their confidence.
How do you groom an old dog?
It’s all about comfort.
Being on the table is tiring for senior dogs. We take them off frequently. They can rest on the sofa or have a gentle mooch about whenever they need a well-deserved break.
What if my dog has a disability?
Please tell us when booking.
We treat every dog as an individual, whether they are blind, deaf, or have mobility issues. We customize the entire process to keep them happy and safe.
I have more than one dog, can you groom them all?
Yes! You can save time by dropping them off together, as long as they are not aggressive towards other dogs. They may need crating briefly for safety if they become a distraction.
My dog has really badly knotted fur
We try our absolute best to gently work out knots. However, if the process causes distress, we must shave the knots out for your dog’s safety and comfort.
This might mean additional charges or a full shave-off, this covers the additional wear on equipment.
Health & Appointment Logistics
What if my dog has ticks or fleas?
We can attempt to remove a few ticks (if there aren’t too many). If your dog has fleas, please book the last appointment of the day.
We must use a special flea shampoo and ‘flea bomb’ the salon afterward, which will incur an additional charge.
How long will the groom take?
Our booking time is an estimate.
Keep your phone close. We might call you early for collection, or we may ask you to return in 15 minutes.
If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right!
I have a reactive dog, will others be in the salon?
This isn’t a problem. First, book a Meet & Greet when the salon is empty so they can settle in.
For their appointment, we will ensure they are the only dog in the salon.
This might mean an early or late slot. We may also ask you to stay table-side to help keep them calm.
I think my dog has sensitive skin?
We have specialized shampoos manufactured specifically for sensitive skin needs. Just let us know when you book so we can ensure we have the appropriate shampoos available.
Payment & Scheduling
What payment types do you accept?
We gladly accept Cash, Card Payment (via our reader), and Bank Transfer.
Note: Funds must clear before you leave.
Can you re-arrange my appointment?
Please let us know as soon as you can.
This allows us to offer the slot to another dog in need. We’ll then find a new date that works best for you.
Note: Cancelling or resheduling an appointment within 24hrs of the appointment time may result in a cancellation fee.
